The formation of kidney stones or stones in urinary tract is common. The chemicals found in the urine are responsible for production of stones in the kidney. These chemicals include oxalic acid, calcium, uric acid and phosphorus. They size of these stones may vary from sand, grit and something similar to the size of an egg of bird. Stones grow in size due to the concentration of a substance in the urine surpass its solubility.
Kidney stones usually occur when the urine is high concentrated due to heavy perspiration, insufficient intake of fluids or sedentary life style. Urinary tract infection, wrong diet, excess intake of acid forming foods, white flour, sugar products, meat, tea, coffee, condiments, rich foods and over eating are some other causes for kidney stone disorder. Lack of vitamin A and excessive intake of Vitamin D also leads to formation of stones in kidney.
Some kidney stones require medical intervention, but many are small and stable enough to pass on their own. For these, there are a few natural treatments and interventions that can reduce discomfort, ease the process, or possibly even dissolve the stones.
Natural Treatment for Kidney Stone: –
Once you are home, you need to drink tons and tons of water. This will help flush the kidney stone out of your body easier and faster. Lemon water is great to drink, because the lemon will act as a diuretic and flush your bladder faster.
You should also avoid sugary foods until your kidney stones pass. High sugary diets are typically associated with kidney stone development. That is why I recommend eating more vegetables than fruits. Fruits tend to have more sugar.
Exercise regularly. Exercise keeps your body functioning. When you are inactive, the body waste removal process slows down, which may allow calcium and uric acid to clog up in your kidneys. When these chemicals are overproduced in your body, the kidneys cannot process them away and the build-up creates kidney stones.
Fish Oil: – An interesting study at the Department of Urology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in Scotland has shown that Greenland Eskimos have a very low record of stone diseases. Further research has attributed this to their diet, which is high in fish oil.
Remain active. Exercise each day and eat healthy foods. Exercise will move the stone along and help ease the pain.
Drink a lot of water. Six to eight glasses a day should be sufficient, but even more will help loosen the stone. The more water you drink, the sooner the stone will pass.
Getting plenty of fiber is important for flushing your body and kidneys. You should be eating plenty of vegetables daily because of the water soluble fiber. You should also eat only whole grains with a dietary fiber of 3 grams per serving.
There is an old home remedy that has worked to soften and dissolve kidney stones: Take 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, add it to 1 cup of water and drink before each meal. Organic apple cider vinegar is the always preferable.
