Hesperidin is a flavonoid that is found primarily in citrus fruits. Oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits contain the most hesperidin which can be obtained from its membranous parts and peels.
A lot of health benefits can be acquired from hesperidin. People who always experience nose bleeding, and those susceptible to being bruised often can benefit from the effects of this nutrient to the blood capillaries. Hesperidin keeps the capillaries healthy by decreasing its permeability making it stronger preventing ruptures and hemorrhages.
Together with Vitamin C, hesperidin maintains the collagen in its healthiest state and it makes the connective tissues tougher. This makes the skin less prone to sagging and wrinkling.

Health benefits from this nutrient can only be fully attained if you are able to choose the high quality multivitamin supplements available.
To do this, you have to check the label and see for yourself what other ingredients were added to your hesperidin supplement. Additives like sugar, silica, starch, gluten, and food colouring should not be present. These are all fillers which do not have significant effects other than potentially harming you especially if you are allergic to any of them. Hesperidin, as earlier mentioned, works with Vitamin C in making the collagen healthy. There is also a food enzyme called Bromelain that enhances the absorption of hesperidin. It is good therefore that you choose a hesperidin supplement that also contains both of them. Since hesperidin is a flavonoid, its effects on the health can be increased if it is combined with other flavonoids like Quercetin, Rutin, and Diosmin. These flavonoids all contribute in keeping the blood capillaries in good shape.
When taking hesperidin supplement, take note that adverse reactions such as nausea, vomiting, and gastric upset may occur. Other components of the supplement may also cause an allergic reaction. In both case, use of hesperidin should be stopped and medical attention should be sought to manage the symptoms.
Even if it does not have an approved recommended dietary allowance from the FDA, 10 mg to 100 mg of hesperidin is the safest dosage wherein favourable results can already be expected. For the many uses of hesperidin to the human body, it is considered as an important component in maintaining optimum health.
